The Fresno PC Users Group (FPCUG) was founded in March of 1983. It was created to help new and advanced computer users acquire more information on how to obtain greater benefits from the use of their computers. The Fresno PC Users Group has special classes ranging from PC introduction and word processing to HTML (Web site language) and PageMaker programs.

The Fresno PC Users Group is a non-profit, public benefit corporation, and is not organized for the private gain of any person or group of people. It exists under the Non-Profit Benefit Corporation Law for charitable purposes only; specifically, for the education of the general public by acquiring, promoting, and disseminating knowledge of personal computer usage and all related subjects.

The monthly general meetings feature a presentation of a software program or hardware topic. Featured products have included Adobe, PowerQuest, Quicken, WordPerfect, Microsoft Windows, Klassic Specialties papers, genealogy search methods by All-Phase Genealogical Services, etc. These are often presented by official representatives of the vendor of the product, otherwise by a knowledgeable local member presenter. Major products from the presenting vendor are commonly given away as door prizes to members at the end of the presentation.

The FPCUG is an organization of "People Helping People". The monthly general meetings feature a Question & Answer session when anyone can ask a question about a problem they're experiencing, and receive answers from the audience that will help them understand and solve their problem. Many members are more than willing to share helpful ideas with anyone before and after the general meetings. The members' newsletter, the RAM Pages, includes a list of Sanity Savers - members who freely help other members with questions by phone. There is a Photo SIG (Special Interest Group) which meets regularly to help members with solutions to digital photography issues.

Other SIGs form when there is interest. The group is dynamically adjusting continually to interests and new technology.
